When I was around 8 years old I went to a miniature dollhouse show with my family. There was a yellow Victorian dollhouse that was being raffled off. Being an optimistic young girl I was convinced I wanted it more than anyone and would win. My dad being a much older and wiser man knowing the rule of odds saw my enthusiasm and leaned over in my ear saying, “Do you really want that dollhouse?” I replied with, “Yes!” My dad happened to be a mechanical engineer and very creative. It seemed like within a couple of weeks he started building me a dollhouse, a yellow Victorian.
It has always been a work in progress and I recently gave it a fresh coat of paint, a deck on top, and finally installed all the windows my dad had made. My dad’s love and hard work to build me a custom dollhouse has always reminded me of a scripture in the Bible about God’s love for us.
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2-3
